The module is offered at Level 3 (Degree) and Masters level and is delivered at our Glenside Campus.

Health inequalities are a key focus of the module and also a particular focus of practice for Specialist Community Public Health Nurses. Course content includes:

  • History of public health and health promotion
  • Sociological approaches to health and well-being
  • Health promotion models, frameworks and approaches
  • Health inequalities
  • Empowerment and the promotion of health
  • Community capacity building and asset mapping
  • Settings approaches to health promotion
  • Evidence-based practice and evaluation.


Course delivery may include lectures, seminars, e-learning, self-directed study and case study discussions.

Please note: Priority will be given to applications received through our funded educational contracts. Places on this module will be limited for applications received outside of this funding. Please check with your employer as a funded contract place may still be available to support your learning.
