Preparation for Professional Midwifery Advocate
To apply for this course you must satisfy the following entry requirements:
- Nomination and selection by Directors/Head of Midwifery with agreement by programme leader regarding suitability to study at Masters level
- Completion of HEE A-Equip e-learning module
- Access to a relevant practice environment in order to meet the learning outcomes of the module
- Assignment of a PMA mentor with sign-off status to assess practice competencies.
This course is offered at Masters level and is delivered at our Glenside Campus.
Course content:
Theoretical and practical learning will center of the four elements of the A-EQUIP model:
- Monitoring, evaluation and quality control
- Clinical supervision (restorative)
- Personal action for quality improvement
- Education and development.
The course will, upon successful completion, allow midwives to practice as professional midwifery advocates.
Delivery:
The course will be delivered over 12 weeks with 72 hours contact time spread over 10 days. It is recommended that 60 hours should be spent learning in practice supported by a Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) mentor.
